Dear Band Parents,

I'm very excited about the 2010 Marching Mustang Band!  This year's theme is "Broadway!", with music from West Side Story, Les Miserables, and Fiddler on the Roof.  The music has arrived and is ready to be passed out to the students, the t-shirt design has been approved by the clothing committee, and the design committee has already come up with several ideas for the backdrop.  Now, all we need is the students!  This year is shaping up to be one of the best ever, with a talented group of "veteran" students returning (including two Seniors who will be marching for their 6th year), and a very promising group of "rookie" marchers that have a LOT of potential!  Don't miss out on all the fun and excitement........we need you in the 2010 Marching Band!

The 2010 Marching Band season officially kicks off this Tuesday with Pre-Camp, which will be July 20th-22nd from 8am - Noon.  All students interested in participating in the Marching Band need to report to the Band Room at 8:00am.  We will start with a few introductions and opening remarks before moving to the Band Practice Field (in the LAMA Parking Lot).  At 10:00am we will take a short break (gatorade and a snack will be provided), and then move back into the Band Room for an inside music rehearsal, which will finish at Noon.  Students need to bring tennis shoes (with socks), a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen.  We will take water breaks every 20-30 minutes while we are outside (water will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own water bottle if they want).  We will also have a full Band Camp from July 26th-30th.  Information about Pre-Camp and Band Camp is available from the Madison Academy website at www.macademy.org (go to the "Band" tab under the "Fine Arts" section).
